Buying timber in Zimbabwe
A timber purchase needs more than a length and a total. Preserve the specified product, dimensions, grade or treatment and any agreed processing so the recipient can check the delivery.
Ask the builder to define the material
Wattle publishes timber-related products and Halsted lists timber within its catalogue. Use the builder's or designer's requirements to create the order schedule. This guide cannot select timber for structural use. If the seller proposes a different description, have the responsible professional resolve it before the payer approves the change.

Compare the supplied item
Ask whether measurements refer to the finished product and list each section and length separately. Clarify any cutting, treatment or preparation included in the quote. Keep a proposed substitute identifiable as a proposal until approved. Comparing an unprocessed item with a prepared one only by price can hide a substantial difference in the work still required.

Arrange a traceable site handover
Confirm collection or delivery and ask for applicable handling and storage instructions. Give the recipient a schedule they can count against while unloading. Record visible damage and missing items before the material enters general site stock. Installation quality and structural acceptance remain separate from confirmation that the timber arrived.

Enquiry brief to adapt
Please quote the specified timber description and dimensions, preserving the distinction between individual lengths and the total order quantity. Identify any treatment or other characteristic requested by the designer and flag alternatives for their review. Confirm the actual loading location for this supply. The site recipient will compare the delivered schedule and visible condition before materials are processed or incorporated into the work.

Putting the record into practice
A quote describes lengths differently from the builder's schedule. The buyer asks the seller and builder to reconcile the dimensions before payment. The final schedule records the supplied item clearly, and the recipient checks against that version.
