Buying bulk food in Zimbabwe
Compare a bulk-food basket by product, pack size and actual unit count. A case total can conceal a different quantity, and a manufacturer listing does not identify the seller handling your order.
Name the basket and the seller
National Foods and Cairns publish food ranges that can help identify products. Ask the actual seller to confirm the requested brands, pack formats and current quantities. Keep the manufacturer separate from the invoicing entity when a retailer or wholesaler handles the sale. A basket intended for an institution should be approved by the person responsible for receiving and using it.

Set substitution rules before dispatch
Record whether each line may be replaced and who must approve a change. A different pack size, brand or product can alter the intended basket even if its monetary total is similar. Have the recipient check relevant product-label requirements rather than assuming all substitutes are suitable. Ask the seller to show revised quantities explicitly.
| Comparison field | Example of a difference |
|---|---|
| Product | Different brand or category |
| Unit | Case versus individual pack |
| Quantity | Different packs per case |

Reconcile before splitting the order
Count cases and their stated contents, inspect visible packaging and retain the receipt. Keep any delivery charge or collection condition with the quote. If goods will be shared among several households or departments, first record the merchant handover and then the internal distribution. This prevents a later shortage from being attributed automatically to the original supplier.

Enquiry brief to adapt
Please quote the named products with unit size, units per case and number of cases shown separately. Identify any proposed brand or pack change and supply the relevant product information for the recipient's review. Confirm which items are ready and how the goods would be handed over. The receiving team will count by the accepted pack configuration and record any shortage without closing the entire basket.

Putting the record into practice
A revised basket replaces one product with a smaller pack. The buyer checks the resulting number of units and asks the recipient to approve the change. At delivery, the receiving list shows the final basket rather than the initial request.
